It's Been Awhile

Wow has time flown by! So much has happened the past year. I learned to walk, which was a big accomplishment. Now I run most of the time. Christmas came and went and so did winter. I really enjoyed playing in the snow. I have a little sled that I get pulled around in. This spring I started with the bubbles. I LOVE bubbles. I could chase them all day long. Popping them with my face is my new specialty. But the biggest change to my life came in May. One night I went to bed at my Grama and Poppy's house and the next day I met my new baby sister, Claire. She is very sweet and I like her a lot. She likes to watch me play and someday she will play with me. Maybe I can show her how to blow bubbles!

Swimming has become my new passion. I love the water even when it is cold. I'm not too fond of the concrete under my feet. I stand on a towel at the edge of the pool and jump in. Of course someone always catches me. I also hang out on the stairs, either walking down them or just sitting there playing with water toys. Maybe this winter I can take swimming lessons.

This past Sunday I went to the Italian Festival with my Mommy and Grama to see my Daddy. I had so much fun. I got the full carnival experience. My Grama bought me Italian Ice in a Detroit Tigers ball cap and french fries, my favorite. I also had some pizza and my Daddy bought fried dough. It was very yummy. The biggest part of the day was the giant slide. I watched all the kids going down and I wanted to go too, but I wasn't tall enough. The man operating the ride was letting the little kids ride down with their parents. I just had to go. My daddy went with me and it was so much fun. Mommy and Grama were watching and thought I was scared when I was at the top. I wasn't scared at all. I was anxious, I couldn't wait to go. I went down a few more times. That ride had the nicest operator. He was letting everyone go down several times. It was such a fun day capped off with a nap on the ride home.

My Goings On

Not too much has happened the past two months. I still can't walk by myself but I love to run in my walker and when I hold people's hands. I also can't crawl. I have a scoot that gets me around the house pretty well. It is really funny to watch, so I'm told!

I am now more aware of the pets in my life. I like to pat my dog Riley. He doesn't ignore me as much as he used to. I also like to play with my grandma's kitties. They probably think it is torture time when I am around. They usually end up cornered. I don't think they will ever like me.

Today I went in the pool again. I like to sit on the top step and of course I love my baby pool. What was different this time was that I went in my pool float like a big boy. I was a little apprehensive at first, then it became tons of fun. I got to splash and play with my toys all while sitting in my float. I did get in trouble because I was trying to drink too much pool water.

And finally I have to say that I am sick once again. I was doing good. Two uneventful months and then it hits me again. Two ear infections. Two rounds of antibiotics in a row. Then I get a nasty rash at the same time I am dealing with my ears. Hopefully I will be back to being healthy again real soon. It would be nice to go three months without ear troubles this time.

Happy Belated Birthday

Well my first birthday came and went. I had a lot of fun. My mommy and daddy threw me a party and my friends and family came. It was a beautiful day and we had the party outside. I got new toys that are really fun to play with and some clothes to complete my summer wardrobe. I am really lucky to have so many people that care about me so much. I feel a little spoiled. My mommy made a white cake for me but I didn't really like it. I touched it once and that was enough for me. I would rather eat carrots! My first birthday party was a great way to end my first awesome year of life!

Catching Up With Jack

While it has been quite a while since I have caught up with everyone. I have had a crazy few months. I had the tubes put in my ears, which did help for a few weeks. I was doing good then I got bronchitis and ear infections again. That was unpleasant. Two rounds of antibiotics later I'm doing better. My daddy was so tired of me being sick that he did some research online about other remedies for ear infections. He decided that I should try out a pediatric chiropractor. I have seen Dr. Lori about 7 times. When she readjusts me I do cry sometimes, but my Mommy and Daddy thinks that helped me get better quicker. No matter what it was I'm glad something finally worked.

I still can't crawl or walk. I am quite content scooting around on my bottom. When I try to crawl I usually end up going backwards. Oh well. But I am going to be on the go before my parents know it. I am a big boy so my dog better watch out too!

My daddy has given me a new nickname. He calls me Jackula! I have my bottom 2 teeth and my top 2 side teeth, but no front teeth! It looks so funny, like I have fangs. Leave it to me to look silly.

I also had a fun Easter. The Easter Bunny came to my house! I was a little worried that he wouldn't make it because he has never been here before. Some how he found my house. I was so happy. He brought me some fun stuff. I got bubbles, a book, a toy and some stuffed animals. It was a good day.

Well, I will be 1 year old in two weeks! I can't wait to see my family at my party. Plus I think I am going to get my very own cake. Look out birthday here I come!

My Favorite Word

For a few months I have said only one word and that word is dada. Sometimes I say it nonstop. My Mommy will say mama and I respond with dada. I can now say mama but it is usually while I am eating. She must feed me some good food!

Sick and Tired

I am sick and tired of being sick. I have been a miserable version of myself for the past week. My ears are a mess. I have had the same ear infection since January. Five antibiotics and four very painful shot later I am still sick. This week I was getting worse while I was on my medicine, so I had to have more shots. They have made me feel a little bit better. I am starting to catch up on my sleep and eat better. I lost a pound and on a guy like me that is noticeable. Tomorrow is going to be a big day. I am going to get tubes in my ears. I'm not scared, I'm too tough to be scared! I have a nice doctor who really wants to help me get back to normal. Hopefully the tubes will do the trick. I am ready to play and have fun. Next time I see everyone I will be one hundred percent.

Go Giants!!!

Last week I watched my first Super Bowl. I stayed up for the whole thing. I had to see my Daddy's team win. He was as excited as I was tired. I crashed as soon as the game was over. Everyone says I was his good luck charm.

It has been a rough few weeks for me. I was out of comission for a week or so. I had RSV and a double ear infection. The medicine was so yucky. I tried to spit it out every time it was forced in my mouth. You'd think my Mommy and Daddy would catch on that I don't like it. Things seemed to get better but when I went for my check up I still have the ear infection. So more medicine. Hopefully it will go away this time. I am up to 24.5 pounds. Still huge!

Sunday was a day of almosts. I almost have my first tooth. It is on the bottom and just peeking through. You can feel it but I don't like all of the fingers in my mouth. I can almost say mama. I have said it by accident a few times but nothing consistant. It doesn't flow out as easily as dada. Finally I can almost crawl. I really tried. Instead of crawling forward I can go in a circle. When I'm done with being on my stomach I just roll over. Rolling over is such a silly thing. I laugh every time!
